Central Florida Wedding Venue Spotlight

Field Manor Located in Merritt Island, Florida

Welcome to the first post of our new venue spotlight series! I’m so excited to show off some of my absolutely favorite wedding venues in the Central Florida area. Now let’s get into our first featured venue - Field Manor. For those of you who have known me for a while, you’ll know that I actually used to work at Field Manor! I spent a few years as the events coordinator for all of the weddings, plus some super fun fundraising events. So I’ve got all the insider tips for couples getting married at this venue!

Located on the Indian River on the Space Coast, Field Manor is such a hidden gem! Not only do couples have a stunning backdrop for their wedding ceremony, there’s also tons of privacy with only one visible neighbor. The property sits on just over 40 acres, with abundant parking for all of your guests! If you’re searching for a wedding venue that perfectly encompasses the old Florida vibes, you can stop your searching. The property was settled in the 1840s, with the main home being constructed through the 1860s-1880s, and a few additions in the 1920s and 1960s. The home and property stayed in the same family until the last Mrs.Field passed away, creating the Field Manor Foundation & eventually leading to the museum and events venue we have today.

A few things to consider for a Field Manor wedding:

  • Weather / environment:

    • The venue is primarily outdoors with a. covered patio area for reception. The property is also situated on Merritt Island, a city located on one of Florida’s barrier islands. The venue is on an intracoastal waterway (which basically just means it’s a river that feeds into the ocean), and that means the area is super prone to stronger storms coming off the ocean. It’s super wise to plan your wedding day on one of the drier months in the state. Usually late November through early April are the best months, and avoid summer time or peak hurricane season!

  • History:

    • The entire property has been converted from a family home to a working museum & venue. The museum space mainly consists of the former family home and an old citrus packing house. For the safety of the spaces and artifacts the museum is not open to your wedding. Access is usually restricted to the wedding party and immediate family only. Don’t fret about this though! I promise you and your guests will still have an amazing event overlooking the water, nestled behind the old citrus grove.

  • Getting ready spaces:

    • Remember how I mentioned it was a very very old house? Well with old homes comes smaller rooms and to put it bluntly the getting ready area can get very crowded very quickly. If you’re forgoing a formal wedding party this may not be an issue, but for those of you with larger groups I’d highly suggest arriving to the venue fully dressed! Honestly this will make your entire day feel smoother, plus you won’t have the anxiety of a silly groomsmen accidentally breaking an irreplaceable family heirloom that belongs to the museum collection.

Here’s some venue specs:

  • Capacity varies, the pavilion itself can fit up to 150 comfortably, but you can expand by adding tented seating

  • Packages offered range from simple venue rental to inclusive options

  • Most venue rentals come with tables & chairs

  • Plenty of guest parking, with an attendant included

  • Ability to bring in your own vendor team, as long as they’re licensed and insured
